Amira Shaheen and Riyad Awad
Amira Shaheen holds a PhD in epidemiology and population health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM, 2009). She works as an assistant professor at An-Najah National University and has received the Elsevier-OWSD Career Research Award, 2019, for her work on gender-based violence. Riyad Awad holds a master of public health degree from Al-Quds University (1999). Retired since 2016, he worked as the director of the Palestinian Health Information Center at the Ministry of Health from 2000 to 2016 where he was responsible for preparing and publishing health status reports. From 1995 to 2000, he was a member of the epidemiology staff and chief of zoonotic unit in primary health care at the MoH. Riyad has published seven research articles in international and regional magazines on various health problems, especially surveillance and infectious diseases.
